Compounder performs surgery with Doctor on video call, pregnant woman dies

Begusarai: In a shocking incident of medical negligence, a pregnant woman recently lost her life due to post-operative complications from a botched surgical procedure after a doctor who was not physically present at his clinic guided his compounder to conduct the surgery via video call.
The botched operation was conducted at a private clinic in Begusarai, owned by the doctor, who was reportedly in Delhi at the time when the pregnant woman was brought to his clinic. After the operation went wrong, leading to the patient's death, the doctor and his staff reportedly fled the clinic, abandoning it.

According to a News 18 news report, locals believe that the police officials tried to cover up the case as the woman's body was cremated hastily. Locals speculate that a significant amount of money may have changed hands between the doctor, the police, and the victim’s family to keep the matter under wraps.
The shocking case came to light after a viral post circulating in a WhatsApp group named ‘Begusarai Breaking’ exposed the incident, triggering widespread outrage. News 18, investigating the matter, revealed that the pregnant woman was brought to the private clinic due to the absence of a medical officer at Teghra Sub-Divisional Hospital, who was on leave.
