Court Relief: Non-bailable warrant against Mumbai doctor accused in child trafficking case revoked
Mumbai: Setting aside an order of Andheri magistrate court, the session court has recently cancelled the non-bailable warrant issued against a doctor who was accused of being involved in the trafficking of an infant. However, the session court has imposed a penalty of Rs 3,000 on him.
As per a recent media report in the Free Press Journal, the doctor has been identified as a 56-year-old who is a resident of Telangana allegedly involved in a case where an auto driver stole the child of a footpath dweller and transferred the baby to Hyderabad with the help of another person. The doctor then allegedly sold the child to a gullible couple who did not have any clue about the child being stolen. The couple allegedly paid Rs 4 lakh to the doctor as he assured the couple that the child was from an institution.
Following this, the doctor was booked but he was out on bail. However, later the magistrate court gave a date for the session, but he did not attend the session. Taking action, the magistrate court issued a warrant against the doctor after which he made an application before the court to cancel it. But the magistrate rejected his plea.
