New Delhi: A doctor holding a foreign MBBS degree found himself in a tight spot for allegedly striking a deal with another doctor for Rs 4 lakh as a proxy solver in Foreign Medical Graduate Examination (FMGE) screening test held in December 2020.

The accused doctor aspiring to practice in India was arrested on Friday based on a complaint moved with police on March 11 by Dr Vinaypta. The complaint was raised on the grounds that the face ID of the accused differed from a photo in application form and pictures captured on exam day.

The result of the candidate was frozen in wake of the mismatch and he was called for the verification of face ID on March 3rd but he did not appear for the verification. On March 10th finally, he paid a visit to the National Board of Examination (NBE) for the verification of face ID.

When the team tried to verify his face against the image captured on the exam date, it did not match and consequently, evoked suspicion among the authorities. They started questioning him and when he did not give satisfactory answers to the questions, they took him to Sarita vihar police station.

Accordingly, the complainant visited the police station along with the accused doctor and a complaint was registered against the accused doctor for using another candidate to sit for the exam in place of him.

On investigating, the police found that the accused was consistently appearing for the FMGE for the last 6 years to get registered with Indian Medical Council (IMC), however, he failed to clear it. Finally, he implanted another doctor on his behalf to give the FMGE examination in South East Delhi last year.

Millenium Post reports that according to the Deputy Commissioner of Police (South East) RP Meena, " He was residing in Gautam Pur Delhi. He met one doctor who offered him to sit in the exam and provide a guaranty that he will pass the exam in just Rs 4 lakh. The deal was accepted by both parties." Last year, he used another doctor as a proxy question solver in the exam at iON digital Zone Mathura Road at Sarita Vihar.

"Admit card of the candidate was issued for December 2020 session. His test centre was at Ion Digital Zone at Mathura Road. The result of the candidate was frozen due to mismatch of face id varied from a photo in application form and pictures captured on exam day," the official told Millennium Post.
The foreign medical graduate examination is an examination that was conducted by the National Board of Examination to give foreign MBBS degree holders license for practising in India.

"This is a licentiate examination for an Indian citizen, an overseas citizen of India who has completed primary medical qualification from other countries. Foreign medical graduates must have to qualify FMGE to get registered in the Indian Medical council," police stated.
