Jammu: After the Government Medical College and Hospital (GMC) Jammu principal was booked by the Crime Branch for her alleged date of birth fabrication, the Anti-Corruption Court in Jammu recently granted interim bail to the principal till 8th July.

Medical Dialogues team recently reported about the case where the Principal and Dean of Government Medical College (GMC) Jammu was booked by the Crime Branch for allegedly fabricating her Date of Birth (DoB) to gain unfair career advantages.

Following this, a case was registered against the doctor under Sections 420 (Cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property), 465, 467 (Forgery of valuable security), 468 (Forgery for purpose of cheating), 471 and 120-B RPC r/w 5(1) (d) PC Act Svt. 2006 at the Police Station Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of Crime Branch (CB), Jammu.

It came to light that the doctor used fabricated dates of birth certificates to gain admission in the MBBS course at GMC Jammu under the nose of the government. The accused used her two dates of birth, i.e. 08.04.1964 and 08.04.1965, to cheat the government and gain admission to the college.

The matter could not have been revealed until a written complaint filed by Manu Gupta against the doctor came to the fore, alleging that she had tampered with her age documents to get an undue advantage for getting admission to the MBBS course in the GMC Jammu as she was underage at that time.

Investigating the case in dept, the Jammu Crime Branch (CB) on Thursday conducted simultaneous raids on the office of the Principal and the Dean's office at Government Medical College and Hospital-Jammu (GMC Jammu).

They conducted the search for seven hours long to gather documents relating to the case following which the team headed by the senior officer of EOW seized the records and documents from both the Principal's office and the Dean's office. The raid went from 10 am to 5 pm.

It came to the fore, that the doctor after fabricating her birth dates and gaining admission to the college, later applied for correction of her DOB. However, she soon switched back to her fabricated date of birth in order to gain success in her career.

As per a media report in The Republic, "The Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education authorities have issued the order for making the requisite correction in the doctor's date of birth. Accordingly, she became eligible to fill up the MBBS selection form but later on, she again switched over to her long-run advantageous DOB. Initial Investigation also revealed that he tampered with the DOB on her PAN Card," the FIR read.

Currently, the principal is on leave after getting bail.
