Palghar: A hospital visit ended in tragedy for a 73-year-old woman after a doctor posted at Tarapur Atomic Power Station (TAPS) Colony hospital allegedly ran his car over her, trapping her under his wheels, ultimately leading to her death. In connection with this, the police arrested the doctor on Wednesday.

Eyewitnesses reported that the doctor, while leaving the hospital premises, allegedly struck the woman with his car as she was walking near the main entrance of the hospital. Due to the heavy force of the collision, she was dragged for nearly 10 to 12 feet.

As per the HT news report, the incident occurred just outside the hospital premises, where the deceased, a resident of Ghivali village, was accompanying her husband for medical treatment. She and her husband were about to enter the entrance gate of the hospital when suddenly the doctor's car hit the woman and dragged her under the wheels.

Passersby who witnessed the incident immediately rushed to her rescue and extricated her by lifting one side of the car. She was hospitalised immediately but succumbed to injuries before doctors could start treatment.

While the exact circumstances leading to the accident remain under investigation, local police have taken the accused doctor into custody after registering a case under relevant sections of the BNS.

Further investigation is underway to determine the exact circumstances.
