Doctor sentenced to 20 years jail for sexually assaulting minor
Shillong: In a recent judgment, a special Pocso court in Shillong sentenced a 58-year-old doctor to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment after being found guilty of sexually assaulting a minor at his clinic in West Khasi Hills district in July 2020.
The doctor who operated a clinic in Pyndengumiong Village, Mairang, Eastern West Khasi Hills, has been sentenced to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment with a fine of Rs 1.2 lakh and an additional 5 years' Imprisonment with a fine of Rs 25,000 under section 10 POCSO Act.

According to a media report in the TOI, the conviction follows an FIR filed on July 27, 2020, alleging that the doctor had sexually assaulted a minor. After an investigation by Mairang Police Station, the doctor was arrested and placed in judicial custody.
Following a trial, M. Kumar, Special Judge (POCSO), West Khasi Hills, Nongstoin, found the doctor guilty and therefore ordered a total of 25 years of imprisonment and a fine of Rs 1.5 lakh.
