Dr Prem Nair appointed National President of Telemedicine Society of India

Kochi: Dr Prem Nair, the Medical Director of Amrita Hospitals Group, has been elected as the National President of the Telemedicine Society of India. The announcement was made during Telemedicon 2024, the annual international conference of the society, held at the Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGI), Chandigarh.

Currently, Dr Prem Nair serves as the founding President of the Kerala chapter of the Telemedicine Society of India, a release said.

Dr Prem Kumar Vasudevan Nair currently serves as the Medical Director at Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences at the Kochi campus of Amrita University. He is a skilled clinician par excellence and also serves as a Professor at the Department of Gastroenterology at the School of Medicine, Kochi.

He has pursued a Doctor of Medicine (DM) and completed his Fellowship of American College of Physicians (FACP) in Hepatology from the School of Medicine at University of Southern California in June 1986. Dr. Prem Nair also holds the office of the President of Association of Healthcare Providers (India).

During the event, Bijoy, Honorary Secretary of the Kerala chapter of the Telemedicine Society, presented a paper on the life-saving mission conducted in 2003 using the ISRO telemedicine system at Amrita Hospital.

Dr. Prem Nair’s election as the National President marks a significant milestone for the Telemedicine Society of India as it continues to drive advancements in digital healthcare across the country.

Medical Dialogues had earlier reported that Dr Prem Nair, the Group Medical Director of Amrita Hospital, Kochi, and Faridabad, has been bestowed with the Tharang Golden Honour for Global Excellence by the Indian Medical Association. The prestigious award ceremony took place during the 98th All India Medical Conference held in Thiruvananthapuram, with the award being presented by the Honourable Chief Minister of Kerala, Pinarayi Vijayan.
