According to ET Healthworld news report, commenting on his appointment, Dr Shuchin Bajaj said, “It is a profound honor and responsibility,” Dr. Bajaj said in a statement. “Ensuring that quality healthcare is not a privilege but a right for every Indian is vital to India’s health and development narrative. I look forward to partnering with NABH and stakeholders to create a healthcare ecosystem where geography or income no longer limits access to quality care.”

Dr. Shuchin Bajaj was inspired by his roots as the son of refugee parents to give up his work in Delhi's biggest private hospital and open hospitals, clinics, and digital health services aimed at providing high-quality, low-cost health care to communities that don't have access.

For this, he founded Ujala Cygnus Hospitals. Shuchin is a highly qualified medical scholar. After completing his MBBS from PGIMS, Rohtak, he did his MD from Dr SNMC, Jodhpur in 2004. Dr Bajaj was the recipient of the British Government’s 2015 Chevening Gurukul Fellowship for Leadership and Excellence award at King’s College London, ‘Innovating Health for Tomorrow” Fellowship at INSEAD, France, in 2017, Aspire Fellowship, and has completed the Seed Transformation Program conducted by the Stanford Global Business School. He is also a Senior Fellow at Aspen New Voices.

Dr Bajaj is on the board of a number of prominent national NGOs as Advisor-Health Programmes, as well as being part of the Healthcare Track for Xynteo’s India 2022 coalition. Shuchin is an avid Healthcare Investor and is associated with multiple Health Tech Companies as an investor, Board Member, and mentor. He is on the TBIU Board of FITT, IIT, Delhi, and was also a member of the Advisory Council to the previous Union Minister of State for Health and works closely with the Health Minister of Delhi.

Over the last two years, Shuchin was at the forefront of fighting the war on the pandemic as a frontline warrior doing clinical work, including Covid ICU duties and managing his then nineteen hospitals, offering covid care to thousands of patients daily. Shuchin has also been a core team member of Project StepOne, helping 21 state governments manage their Covid response ranging from helplines to home isolation management to plasma management, attending to four million patients in the process, as well as running a free 1000 bed covid hospital with the largest field ICU in the country of 308 beds in Delhi and a 100-bed free COVID Hospital in Prayagraj.
