Fake Registrations Row: Rajasthan Medical Council cancels Licences of 8 doctors
Jaipur: In the latest update regarding the fake registration of doctors in Rajasthan, the State Medical Council has cancelled the licences of eight doctors with foreign degrees after their certificates were found to be fake.
Officials said that these doctors had managed to secure licence from the Rajasthan Medical Council (RMC) based on forged documents. PTI has reported that the accused include Shubham Gurjar, Indraraj Singh Gurjar, Vijay Saini, Nafees Khan, Devendra Singh, Satendra Singh Gurjar, Abhishek Kumar and Sheikh Arif Iqbal.
Commenting on the matter, RMC Registrar Dr. Giridhar Goyal told PTI, "The candidates got themselves registered with Rajasthan Medical Council by submitting forged documents. RMC has taken action on the basis of the recommendation of the investigation committee constituted by the state government in the case related to registration through fake documents."
Goyal said the documents of all these people were sent to the National Board of Examination for verification, and after receiving the report from there, their registrations have been cancelled.
According to RMC officials, all these doctors have done MBBS from abroad, including Kazakhstan, Russia, and Ukraine, but have not cleared FMGE exam which is mandatory for Indian citizens with foreign medical degrees to practise in India.
Medical Dialogues had earlier reported that previously in connection to the issue, the Registrar of RMC, along with two other personnel were suspended.
They had been suspended based on an interim report by a five-member committee set up by the State Health Minister Gajendra Singh Khinvsar. According to the report, some procedural flaws were identified in the process of registering the doctors. Reportedly, negligence and irregularities in registration had also surfaced.
Following this, the State Medical Council started the process of verifying the documents provided by more than 70,000 doctors to RMC over the years to identify the fake documents submitted to the Council by doctors.
Recently a five-member committee headed by the Commissioner of Medical Education Iqbal Khan overseeing the investigation sent teams from the medical education department to three states including Karnataka, Delhi, and Maharashtra.
