GMC Anantnag Principal honoured for outstanding service in affordable healthcare
Prof. Dr. Rukhsana Najeeb’s Leadership in Affordable Medicines Earns National Recognition
Anantnag: Union Health Minister Jagat Prakash Nadda presented an appreciation award to Prof. Dr. Rukhsana Najeeb, Principal and Dean of Government Medical College (GMC) Anantnag, in recognition of her outstanding services in promoting affordable healthcare and strengthening the implementation of the Pradhan Mantri Bhartiya Janaushadhi Pariyojana (PMBJP).
The award ceremony was held in New Delhi on the occasion of Jan Aushadhi Diwas and was attended by dignitaries, including Minister of State for Chemicals and Fertilizers Anupriya Patel as Guest of Honour, and Secretary, Department of Pharmaceuticals Manoj Joshi as Special Guest.

According to the official invitation, the award acknowledges the institution’s dedication and consistent efforts in furthering the government’s vision of cost-effective medicines for all sections of society. The ceremony, held as part of nationwide Jan Aushadhi Diwas celebrations, emphasized the crucial role of Jan Aushadhi Kendras in expanding the reach of generic medicines and reducing healthcare expenses for common people.
Meanwhile, soon after the news of the honour reached the official WhatsApp group of GMC Anantnag, faculty members, doctors, and staff members flooded the platform with congratulatory messages. Many described the achievement as a matter of pride for the entire medical fraternity and staff of GMC Anantnag, acknowledging Prof. Dr. Rukhsana Najeeb’s leadership and commitment to public healthcare services, reports Daily Excelsior.
Speaking to News Vibe of India, Dr. Najeeb described the achievement, describing it as a proud moment for the institution and the region.
