Greater Noida: Female doctor thrashed for objecting encroachment, 2 arrested

Greater Noida: In a shocking incident, a video of a female doctor from Jalvayu Vihar Housing Society of Greater Noida being allegedly physically assaulted by her neighbours for opposing an act of illegal encroachment has gone viral on social media.

The victim has filed a complaint to the police, and both the accused have been arrested.

Cases of illegal construction and disputes related to them have been on the rise in the societies of Noida and Greater Noida. 

According to sources, the victim lives with her elderly parents in Jalvayu Vihar Society and is posted in Primary Health Centre, Dankaur. Her neighbour Arun Kumar, her wife and another woman in his family assaulted her which resulted in serious injuries on her head and hand.

The victim is undergoing treatment at the district hospital.

Sharma said that the accused misbehaved and brutally assaulted her. It was seen in the video that the victim's parents were pushed and assaulted when they came to her rescue.

Sharma alleged that the accused constantly engaged in illegal construction which she protested against and had complained to the Resident Welfare Association (RWA). The RWA had put a ban on the construction but to no avail.

After filing a complaint at the police station, she alleged that the police, after receiving a complaint, pressed minor charges and released the accused. However, based on the severity of the video, the police arrested the duo under several criminal charges.

However, one of the accused named Puja filed an FIR as a counter-move at the police station citing a different side of the story. In her complaints, she alleged that the doctor arrived at high speed in a car while work on their house was being done after which she began pushing and abusing her and the labourers. She also alleged that her husband was injured on the head when he was hit by an iron rod.

In response to the matter, a video was posted by the police department in which DCP (Greater Noida) Abhishek Varma explained the matter and the charges pressed upon the accused. "At Jalvayu Vihar society, there was a dispute between two parties over the construction of a balcony. There was a scuffle and a video of the same has gone viral… Two women, Puja and Priyanka, have been arrested. The allegation made by Puja against the doctor will be taken into consideration," he said.
