Gurugram: A 32-year-old female doctor was attacked and stabbed by around seven men in Farrukhnagar after refusing to give them a plot of land next to her hospital. The suspects are yet to be arrested.

The dispute was over a plot of land owned by the doctor, identified as Snehlata and a family in the neighbourhood wants to get their hands on the land for which both of them filed a civil suit over the property. Currently, the case is pending in court.

The incident happened on Tuesday morning when the seven suspects reached the spot near their hospital and tried to capture the land by breaking the boundary wall with an earth mover. In response to the act, Snehlata and her husband who runs the hospital went outside and tried to stop them by protesting.

However, the suspects allegedly demolished the boundary wall around the doctor's plot in ward number 8 of Farrukhnagar with the earth mover machine. The couple and the accused then got into a fight. As a result of the fight, the doctor was attacked and stabbed by them.

A complaint was filed at the police station against the seven accused and the police registered an FIR under sections 147 (rioting), 148 (rioting, armed with a deadly weapon), 149 (unlawful assembly), 323 (voluntarily causing hurt), 324 (voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapons or means) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code.

In addition, the police have identified the suspects, including 6 members of the same family and a driver of the earth mover. However, they have not been yet arrested by the police.

Following the attack, the doctor was taken to her own hospital and then to Farrukhnagar's community health centre before being transferred to Gurugram's government hospital in Sector 10.

The police said that the doctor was also threatened by the suspects of mowing her down with the earthmover but was saved by locals who gathered at the spot on hearing the brawl.

Inspector Jitender Singh, station house officer of Farrukhnagar police station, informed HT, "The investigation is on in the case. There is an ongoing dispute between the two parties. We are busy with the panchayat elections right now. Action will be soon taken against the culprits."
