Guwahati Doctor held for alleged sexual harassment of patient

Guwahati: A doctor in Guwahati has been arrested on charges of molesting a young woman at a medical clinic in Sixmile on Monday night. This arrest has triggered widespread concern regarding the safety of female patients in private clinics.
The incident took place on April 7 and was promptly reported to the police. Following the victim's complaint, the Dispur Police Station authorities took swift action.
The victim lodged a First Information Report (FIR) at the Dispur Police Station, prompting swift action from the authorities. The doctor was apprehended late at night and taken into custody for interrogation.
Speaking to the G Plus, an official from Dispur police station said, “We received a complaint on Monday night and have registered a case. The accused, Subrata Dey, has been arrested in case No: 321/2025 under sections BNS 296/77/79.”

According to the Sentinel, "While giving therapy, the doctor touched me in different parts and I felt uneasy. Today, I went for the same treatment, but I couldn't remain silent as it was crossing limits, and he was recording a video from my back."
The police are currently interrogating the accused to determine the extent of his actions and whether other patients may have fallen victim to similar misconduct. Authorities are also investigating whether the doctor secretly recorded videos of his patients during consultations.
