Haryana CM promises internships for medical students with degrees from Ukraine

Chandigarh: Haryana Chief Minister, Sh. Manohar Lal, during his stay in Gurugram, on Sunday interacted with the students who returned from Ukraine and their parents. The Chief Minister, Sh. Manohar Lal said that he would convey the suggestions received from them (students) to Prime Minister, Sh. Narendra Modi so as to ensure maximum help is extended to these students pursuing medical education there.

While interacting with the media representatives at the Public Works Rest House, Gurugram, Chief Minister, Sh. Manohar Lal said that a complicated situation has arisen before these students due to the ongoing war between Ukraine and Russia. There were about 18,000 to 19,000 Indian students stuck there. Of them, there are about 1800 students from Haryana state. He said that after the war broke, the first task and priority of the government was to ensure the safe return of these students.

The arrangements for which have been made by the Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India. Our senior Ministers have gone to neighboring countries of Ukraine. From there special flights are being run. Most of the people have returned from there, yet some students are still stuck in the cities of Ukraine. Even today special flights are being run for those who have reached the border. Prime Minister, Sh. Narendra Modi is also worried about the safe return of those still stuck there and the officials are in constant touch with those who are from Haryana.

The Chief Minister further said that there were around 1800 students from Haryana in Ukraine, out of which 1234 have returned till yesterday. Some are on the border, they are being brought and some have reached Delhi and Mumbai. Around 80 students belonging to the state are still stuck in the cities of Ukraine. The Government is in touch with them and is worried about them.

Chief Minister, Sh. Manohar Lal said that when all the students will return from Ukraine, their future will be a matter of concern for the Government of India and the Indian Medical Council and we will abide by their decisions. Even today, talks have been held with the students who have returned from Ukraine and their parents in Gurugram. We will definitely convey the good suggestions given by these students to the Prime Minister so that maximum help can be given.

When asked about the degree of these students, Chief Minister, Sh. Manohar Lal said that the degree will be given by those medical colleges in which these students are studying. Also, with regard to the degree of those students who were on the verge of completion of their course, he said that it will be discussed only after the situation normalizes in Ukraine.

Earlier, while interacting with the students, the Chief Minister said that they have come back after facing several difficulties which must feel like returning from a battlefield. He shared with these students that the Prime Minister has assured that students whose courses have been completed will be given internship opportunities. After that, they have to pass the FMGA exam as per the rules.

When the Chief Minister asked the students that in such a situation, they should tell what can be done. The students openly gave their suggestions to the Chief Minister and explained that they crossed conflict-ridden Ukraine's border wearing the tricolor flag of India. A vehicle carrying the national flag of India is being allowed to cross the border there. For this, these students also appreciated the cooperation given by Prime Minister Sh Narendra Modi and Haryana Government. When these students were asked whether they would like to return to study in Ukraine once the situation normalized, most of them answered yes. The Chief Minister was impressed with the spirit of these students and wished everyone good luck for their future.

On this occasion, along with Chief Minister, Sh Manohar Lal, Pataudi MLA Satyaprakash Jarawata, BJP District President Gargi Kakkar, District BJP General Secretary Manish Gadoli and Mahesh Yadav and Media Coordinator Mukesh Vashisht were also present.
