Amritsar: A homeopathic doctor was arrested by the Vigilance Bureau (VB) in the Patiala district for allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 3.5 lakh. The doctor was apprehended red-handed while accepting the bribe in Tarn Taran, leading to a major crackdown on corruption.

The incident came to light after Ashok Kumar, the complainant, filed a formal grievance with the Vigilance Bureau. Following the VB's investigation into the matter, the doctor was arrested from the office of the Sarhadi Lok Sewa Samitee, a national-level organization that works for the welfare of border residents, dowry victims, and women's empowerment. The arrest occurred in the presence of two government witnesses while the doctor was in the act of accepting the bribe amount.
