Hyderabad: A concerning case of quackery has come to light from the city where a former receptionist at a Redefine Hair Transplant and Plastic Surgery Center in Gachibowli allegedly fooled several people for the past two years by pretending to be a hair transplant and skin doctor.

Operating his scam under the nose of the government, the accused managed to offer hair transplants and lipoma treatment to people under false pretences. He even dispensed medicines for different ailments without a valid medical degree.

The 41-year-old man claimed to be a dermatologist specialising in hair transplantation and provided lipoma treatment at his clinic in Kalapather.

Two years after leaving his job as a receptionist at a reputable plastic surgery centre, he started these fraudulent activities endangering numerous people's lives. However, his journey of pretending to be a doctor and providing medical treatment ended when it recently caught the government's attention.

The information about the doctor's fraudulent activities was received through a tip-off. Acting on it, officials from the health department along with the police officers formed a team and raided the doctor's residence and busted his scam.

During the raid, the team recovered that the man lacked any legitimate medical qualifications to support his claim as a hair transplant and skin doctor. Moreover, he was found operating a clinic in Kalapather where he treated patients under false pretexts.

However, for the past couple of weeks, the accused started the lipoma treatment for the patients at his residence. Busting the criminal activity, the team recovered various medicines, injections, and medical supplies from his residence.

As per a news report from Siasat Daily, the materials include Lipo Lab-01 Box (10 injections), Injection Packet-12, Cotton-01 Packet, Control D Alcohol-10 Packets, Saline Bottle -01, Strauss Pad -01, Syringes -02 Betadine 10 Ml -01, Salicylic Peel and Other Peels, Shower Cap, Scissor -01, Cell Phones -02.

Following the recovery of these items, the team seized them and registered an FIR against the man under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). Consequently, the police arrested the accused, a resident of Bahadurpura on the grounds of cheating, dishonesty, and others.

Speaking to Telangana Today, Additional DCP Task Force, Ande Srinivas said, “He did not have a certificate or any diploma and cheated people saying he was a doctor."

Further, an investigation into the alleged fraud activity is underway.
