Hyderabad: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) caught red-handed a Superintendent from the Government General Hospital (GGH) in Nalgonda on Friday while accepting a bribe of Rs three lakhs.

The accused officer, Dr L Latchu, was nabbed by the ACB while demanding and receiving the bribe from the complainant, Rapolu Venkanna of Nalgonda Town.

The bribe was solicited in exchange for a favour, namely, refraining from initiating tenders for non-tender products and maintaining the orders issued by Dr Latchu on March 16, 2023, for the supply of non-tender products at discounted rates –- 10 per cent for surgical items and 6 per cent for drugs based on MRP, and for the supply of these products by the complainant, An ACB statement said on Saturday.

The tainted bribe amount was seized from the possession of the accused officer, and chemical tests conducted on both of his hands, which had come into contact with the bribe money, yielded positive results.

The officer was found to have acted improperly and dishonestly to gain undue advantage.

Consequently, Dr Latchu was being arrested and produced before the First Additional Special Judge for Special Enforcement and ACB Cases Court, Nampally, Hyderabad.
