She also claimed that she faced verbal abuse, insults, threats, academic pressure, extortion, blackmail, and was forced to run personal errands for the professor. According to her, these actions created an unsafe and toxic work environment, as reported by India Today.
In response to the complaint, Central Maharashtra Association of Resident Doctors (MARD) Maharashtra and IGGMC MARD Nagpur have demanded immediate action from the police. Central MARD General Secretary Dr Suyash Dhavane and IGGMC MARD President Dr Aditya Thete met the Nagpur Police Commissioner, urging him to promptly convert the complaint into an FIR. They warned that any delay could weaken the investigation and allow the accused to influence witnesses or tamper with evidence.
"Central MARD Maharashtra and IGGMC MARD Nagpur have raised serious concerns regarding the complaint of sexual and mental harassment filed by resident doctors of the Forensic Medicine Department at IGGMC Nagpur on 24.11.2025 at Tahsil Police Station," mentioned the press release.
The demands put forward by MARD include immediate registration of the FIR, strict preservation of all digital and documentary evidence to prevent manipulation or destruction, safety, protection, and psychological support for the resident doctors working under the concerned department and a fair, transparent, unbiased, and time-bound investigation, ensuring justice without delay.
"Central MARD Maharashtra and IGGMC MARD Nagpur reiterated that harassment in any form within medical institutions is unacceptable. Ensuring the safety and dignity of resident doctors is essential to maintaining a healthy academic and workplace environment. We express confidence that the Police Commissioner will take swift and decisive action to uphold justice and ensure the welfare of the complainants," the statement adds.
