Kalyan Hospital assault case: Doctor begins testimony against Shiv Sena Corporator
Kalyan: Following the alleged assault at Shastri Nagar Hospital in Dombivli on July 6, the complainant doctor began recording his testimony against a Shiv Sena corporator and other accused before a fast-track court in Kalyan on Tuesday. His testimony will continue on Wednesday after a power outage interrupted the court proceedings.
Medical Dialogues had previously reported that a Shiv Sena corporator, the prime accused in a doctor assault case at a Dombivli hospital, and three others have surrendered before the trial court in Thane district after the Supreme Court cancelled their bail. After their surrender, the court remanded them to Adharwadi Jail in Kalyan, officials said.

The complainant was brought to the court under heavy police security. His examination, initially scheduled for September 29, had been postponed after he cited health issues.
During Tuesday's proceedings, the doctor narrated the sequence of events surrounding the alleged assault at Shastri Nagar Hospital in Dombivli. According to the case details, two doctors were allegedly assaulted after they advised that a pregnant woman who had arrived at the hospital for delivery be taken to Mumbai for further treatment.
The complainant told the court that he had been under considerable mental stress following the incident, which prompted him to leave for his hometown. He also informed the court that he had resigned from his job through an email sent on July 11.
According to TOI, Public Prosecutor Prakash Salsingikar represented the prosecution, while advocate V A Bhanushali conducted the cross-examination on behalf of the accused. During the cross-examination, the defence sought to suggest that alleged negligence by the doctors in treating the patient had led to the incident.
During the recording of the complainant's testimony, the judge specifically asked whether he had received threats. He denied receiving threatening phone calls, despite earlier media reports claiming that he had been threatened and was frightened following the incident.
The allegations had come under the scrutiny of the Bombay High Court, which directed a deputy commissioner of police (DCP) to investigate the claims and submit a report.
According to the police inquiry report, the doctor received 100 phone calls between July 6 and August 4. Of these, 70 calls came from unknown numbers, including 55 calls identified as being from journalists.
The inquiry reportedly found no calls linked to threats against the doctor.
The special court referred to the inquiry ordered by the High Court while questioning the complainant about the alleged threats. The testimony is scheduled to resume on Wednesday, while the examination of the other doctor is expected to take place subsequently.
