Ludhiana doctor lands cameo in Dhurandhar The Revenge after treating Arjun Rampal

As per reports, the opportunity came after Dr Sunny Ashok provided medical assistance to actor Arjun Rampal, who sustained an injury on the set. The movie, a sequel titled Dhurandhar 2, is directed by Aditya Dhar. 

The film was extensively shot across Punjab, including locations such as a railway track near Ludhiana and Shahnewal Airport, which served as major backdrops. The long shooting schedule brought the cast and crew into close interaction with local residents, police officials, and even healthcare workers.

According to The Tribune, Dr Sunny Ashok, who is posted at a government health centre in Kalakh, was called to the set on July 8, 2025, after Rampal suffered a head injury during a chase scene being filmed along the railway track. “There was panic as it seemed Arjun would need scans and hospitalisation,” Dr Ashok recalled. “However, the injury was not serious. I checked his reflexes. All were happy that he was okay.” 

The shooting team again contacted Dr Ashok three days later, on the night of July 11, when a schedule was underway at Shahnewal Airport. It was at that point that a casual comment by Ranveer Singh evolved into a memorable on-screen moment. When the doctor requested a picture with the leading actor, Ranveer Singh, the actor stated that he would take the doctor in the movie, but the doctor initially thought it was a joke. Later, Director Aditya Dhar explained on the spot that one of the scenes fill feature a doctor providing treatment to the actor. Dr Ashok was cast for the role right that moment. “That's my scene in the movie, though it is a split second,” he said.

“Dhar congratulated me for acting natural, saying I never looked into the camera and behaved exactly as a doctor would when seeing an injured Indian hero de-boarding a plane,” Dr Ashok said. Though it was just a brief cameo, Dr Ashok became a local celebrity overnight. As his friends started circulating the video of his part, and word spread through WhatsApp groups all through the Pakhowal town. “All are asking me how the experience was,” he said, reports The Daily.

Dr Ashok said that the actors were really humble, unlike what one might imagine from stars of such stature. “All the film crew, and especially Ranveer and Arjun Rampal, were very down to earth and friendly,” he said. Dr Ashok's family has another connection with Bollywood. His father, Dr Devinder Ashok, was among the friends of Dharmendra from Punjab.
