Maha CM suspends Dean, Deputy Dean of Kalwa hospital over poor facilities
Thane: During a surprise visit to the civic-run Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Hospital at Kalwa in Thane district, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde expressed displeasure about the poor working condition of the facility and the lack of facilities for doctors and decided to take stern action against it.
Considering that the facility wasn't up to the mark and the doctors were suffering, Shinde suspended the dean and the deputy dean of the hospital on Saturday.
An official release by Shinde's office said the dean and deputy dean have been placed under suspension by Municipal Commissioner Abhijit Bangar on orders of the chief minister.

It was shocking for CM Shinde to witness the working condition of the hospital when he visited the hospital to inaugurate the library for relatives of patients and the upgraded maternity ward.
The duo was held responsible for various lapses and a lack of facilities at the hospital. Speaking after a visit to the hospital, Shinde, who is an MLA from Thane, said the doctors must be provided with better working conditions and facilities.
Doctors at the hospital were working hard, but they were not getting good facilities, Shinde noted.

Medical Dialogues team had earlier reported that authorities had suspended the Resident Medical Officer (RMO) and two other doctors attached to Thiruvananthapuram General Hospital following an incident where health cards were issued to hotel workers without a medical examination. The assistant surgeon and RMO in charge was allegedly caught on camera issuing the card after collecting the cost of Rs. 300. Following the incident, Veena George, the Minister of Health, directed the Director of Health Services to take action against the doctors.
