Maha: Man posing as Manchester Chief Surgeon on matrimonial site dupes woman doctor of Rs 5.36 lakh

Mumbai: A case has been registered against an online fraudster who posed as a chief surgeon from Manchester and allegedly defrauded Rs 5.36 lakh from a 52-year-old doctor on the pretext of marriage.
The victim doctor is a cancer immunologist who was cheated by the fraudster and lost her money by trusting the man.
Although an FIR under sections 419 (cheating by personation), 420 (cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property) of the Indian Penal Code and sections 66C (identity theft), 66D (cheating by personation by using computer resource) of the Information Technology Act has been registered by the Vile Parle police, the accused is yet to be arrested.
