Medanta Names Renowned Urologist Dr Sanjay Gogoi as Chairman of Renal Care Institute

Gurugram: Dr Sanjay Gogoi, a distinguished urologist and transplant surgeon, has been appointed as the Chairman of Urology, Kidney Transplant, and Uro-Oncology at the Renal Care Institute, located within the main facility of Medanta in Gurugram. 

Dr Gogoi has over 25 years of experience in comprehensive urology practice, specializing in complex and challenging urological procedures. He has performed over 1000 renal transplants, with outcomes matching global benchmarks. He also has a distinction in conducting one of India's largest series of Pediatric kidney transplants.

Trained in robotic surgery, Dr Gogoi has extensive experience in performing robotic surgical procedures for both benign and malignant diseases of the kidney, bladder, prostate, and adrenal glands. His forte is Retzius Sparing Robotic Radical prostatectomy, Radical Cystectomy with orthotopic neobladder & Robotic Kidney Transplant in large BMI patients.

He is renowned for his work in reconstructive urology, including complex urethral strictures, congenital malformations (extrophy, epispadias, hypospadias etc), neobladders, phalloplasties, neo-vaginas, anti-incontinence treatments, and genito-urinary fistulas. He is recognised both in India and abroad for his excellent outcomes in managing Congenital anomalies of the kidney and urinary tract (CAKUT).

In the past, he has headed the departments of Urology and Renal Transplantation at Apollo Hospital (Colombo), Fortis Memorial Research Institute (Gurgaon), Manipal Hospital (Delhi) and Max Super Speciality Hospital (Dwarka).

Dr. Gogoi has rehabilitated hundreds of war victims with genito-urinary trauma from Sri Lanka and the Middle East. Almost 30 % of his cases are from CIS, Africa SARC and Gulf countries. Dr. Gogoi's contributions to the field of urology and his dedication to patient care have earned him recognition and respect from both peers and patients.
