Medinirai Medical College Physiology Professor resigns amid Faculty Shortage
Daltonganj: In light of the acute shortage of faculty and infrastructure at Medinirai Medical College (MMC) in Daltonganj, a professor from the Physiology department has tendered his resignation, leaving only three professors to oversee the department.
With the professor's resignation, the medical college continues to reel under shortage of teaching faculty as now the number has reduced to three in the Physiology department. Assistant Professor Dr Atul Prakash and two tutors will now manage the department.
This came after the professor in the department of physiology, Dr Rakesh Kumar left the position for another job at a medical college in Madhya Pradesh which is suspected to be a permanent position.
As per a TOI news report, Professors in medical colleges are appointed by the state government on a contractual basis for two years. The decision to renew the contract is based on the profile report of the respective professor provided by the principal. Consequently, faculty members frequently opt to leave the state and join medical colleges in other states that provide permanent positions.
