NExT Mock Test Cancelled, Refund Initiated: AIIMS issues Notice

New Delhi: The mock/practice test for the National Exit Test (NExT) has now been cancelled and the refund process for the registration fees collected from the candidates has been initiated, confirmed the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi.

Issuing a notice in this regard on 18.07.2023, AIIMS, which was in charge of conducting the NExT mock test on July 28, has confirmed that the "registration fee will be refunded in due course of time in the respective account from which payment was made."

This comes after recently the National Medical Commission (NMC) announced that the NExT examination was deferred till further notice from the Union Health Ministry.

Issuing a public notice, NMC informed that the exam has been deferred on the advice of the Ministry and mentioned, "All the stakeholders are hereby informed that the National Exit Test (NExT) examination is deferred on the advice of the Ministry, dated 11.07.2023, till further directions from the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare."

However, the students were still in confusion regarding the NExT mock test scheduled to be held on July 28 and they started demanding a refund of the fees collected from them for appearing in the Mock Test.

Recently, Dr. Yogender Malik, a member of the NMC Ethics and Medical Registration Board (EMRB) of the National Medical Commission (NMC) addressed the issue of NExT Mock test and mentioned in a Tweet, "Dear Students #NExT Mock will be cancelled and fee refunded." 

Now, AIIMS Delhi, which was in charge of conducting the mock test and NExT examination, has confirmed that the NExT mock test has been cancelled and the process of refund of fees has been initiated.

"In reference to Notice No. 124/2023 dated 26th June 2023, the online Applications were invited from 28th June 2023 for Mock/ Practice National Exit Test (NExT) on behalf of the National Medical Commission (NMC) from Final Year students pursuing MBBS courses in Medical Colleges/Institutes in India," AIIMS mentioned in the notice dated July 18, 2023.

Confirming that the exam has been cancelled, the notice further stated, "In this regard, it is hereby informed that as per communication received from NMC and the decision of the competent authority, the Mock/ Practice Test of National Exit Test (NExT) scheduled to be held on 28th July 2023 stands cancelled."

AIIMS further informed that the refund process has commenced and mentioned in the notice, "The refund process of registration fees of candidates who have registered and paid fees for the Mock/ Practice National Exit Test (NExT) has been initiated, and the registration fee will be refunded in due course of time in the respective account from which payment was made."

"Please visit the website www.next.aiimsexams.ac.in as all Important Notices/Corrigendum/Addendum/Updates etc. will only be uploaded on the website," further read the AIIMS notice.
