Pregnant Doctor Dies in Warangal Road Accident

Warangal: In a tragic incident, a 33-year-old doctor who was nine months pregnant was killed after a speeding lorry rammed into the scooter she was riding with her husband on Hunter Road in Hanamkonda district on Monday night.   

According to the news reports, the deceased was identified as Dr Sali Mamatha Rani, an assistant professor at Father Colombo Hospital. She succumbed to severe injuries while undergoing treatment at the Mahatma Gandhi Memorial (MGM) Hospital, police officials said.

The accident occurred while the couple was returning home from duty. Her husband, a final-year orthopaedics student at Kakatiya Medical College (KMC), was riding the scooter. Police stated that the lorry hit the two-wheeler from behind at high speed, causing the couple to be thrown off the vehicle.

She sustained critical injuries in the impact and was immediately shifted to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared her dead. Her advanced stage of pregnancy has added to the shock and grief surrounding the incident, Deccan Chronicle.

As per Telangana Today, based on a complaint by the husband, Mattewada police booked a case and took the tipper driver of Jharkhand into custody.

Further investigation into the incident is underway.

Medical Dialogues had previously reported that in a tragic accident near the Verka Milk Plant on Ludhiana-Ferozepur Road, a 31-year-old doctor lost his life after his car collided with a bike and a car, before overturning. The deceased has been identified as a resident of Sector 39, Chandigarh Road. The fatal crash occurred around 9:00 am while the doctor was on his way to Jagraon in his Hyundai Creta. According to Sarabha Nagar police, the sequence of events began when the doctor’s vehicle hit a two-wheeler, after which it rammed into a Maruti Swift car registered in Haryana.
