Sexual Assault

Anekal: A radiologist from a private scanning centre in Anekal is reportedly on the run after a video went viral on social media showing him allegedly sexually assaulting a 34-year-old woman during an ultrasound scan. The police have registered a case against him based on the woman's complaint and are currently attempting to locate him for arrest.

According to the complaint, the woman, a mother of three children, alleged that the radiologist touched her inappropriately during the scan. When she questioned his behaviour, he reportedly shouted at her and asked her to leave if she did not trust him. When she informed her husband about the incident, he instructed her to go inside again and record the procedure.

In the viral video, the accused is allegedly seen doing the ultrasound scans on the woman who is lying on a bed. At the same time, he is also seen touching her private parts inappropriately, reports TNIE.

The incident took place on Monday at around 3 pm when the woman from Anekal went to the centre with her husband after being advised by a government hospital doctor to undergo a scan. On November 7, the woman went to the hospital with her husband due to an illness.

Before undergoing the scan, the accused asked her to drink two glasses of water. When she lay down on the bed, the accused reportedly started touching her private parts while scanning.

When she questioned his behaviour, he reportedly shouted at her and asked her to leave if she did not trust him. Shocked over this, the woman informed her husband after stepping out of the scan room. Her husband then asked her to record the procedure if she went in again.

Subsequently, she went inside again and reportedly switched on her mobile camera, and the accused allegedly touched her private parts again.

After coming out of the room, the woman went to the police station and filed a complaint. She stated that the accused threatened to kill her if she revealed it to anyone.

There are allegations that the radiologist was brought to the station by the complainant’s family, but the police allowed him to go without taking action, and he reportedly escaped in his SUV.  Following this, the family members staged a protest outside the station.

Denying the accusation, a senior officer attached to Anekal police station told TNIE, "They are baseless, and nobody protested outside the police station. The radiologist is still at large, and efforts are on to arrest him. If the accused was brought to the police station, how will he be let off in such a serious case."

A case of sexual harassment, criminal intimidation and intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of peace has been registered against the radiologist.
