Ahmedabad: A first-year resident doctor at a city medical college has had his PG registration put on hold after he declined to submit his Aadhaar card, following the National Medical Commission's mandate making Aadhaar-based biometric attendance compulsory.
Submission of the Aadhaar card is now mandatory for both attendance and state-level registration.
Justifying the action taken against the doctor, the college authorities have stated that they cannot record his attendance without Aadhaar-linked verification. Meanwhile, the concerned student has challenged the legality of such compulsion.
