Punjab: The Punjab Civil Medical Services Association (PCMSA) has announced an indefinite suspension of services at all public healthcare facilities starting September 9. The decision comes in response to unresolved demands, including assured career progressions and pending arrears from the 6th Central Pay Commission (CPC), among other demands.

According to the UNI report, President of PCMSA, Dr Akhil Sarin, stated that the association has expressed optimism over the government's decision to recruit 400 regular PCMS medical officers (MOs) after a gap of four years. However, it has urged the government to ensure annual recruitment drives to replace the annual attrition.

PCMSA has also expressed skepticism over the government's assurance to provide adequate security at all 24x7 centers in the state by the end of this month.

The association has been called for a meeting with the administrative secretary, department of health and family welfare, on August 27 to discuss the outstanding demands of the cadre, news agency UNI reported.
