Vaniyambadi: A fake doctor has been arrested by the police for allegedly administering an injection to a 13-year-old boy suffering from fever who died from severe stomach pain within a few hours in Vaniyambadi town of Tamil Nadu.

The police discovered the quackery while investigating the boy's death case. After securing substantial evidence about the crimes of the fake doctor, the police arrested him on Wednesday.

In addition, a probe into the case was ordered after the incident gained the attention of the district health department. It is reported that strict action will be taken against the doctor if he is found responsible for his crimes.

Commenting on this, a medical officer informedTNIE,"The department has issued guidelines for all doctors in the state, asking them to register with the council and display of basic medical degree as MBBS and not MD to avoid confusion among people."

The boy was identified as C Surya Prakash, studying at seventh standard and a resident of Thoppalagunda in Vaniyambadi.

The incident occurred on Tuesday when the boy's family took him to a doctor after he developed a fever. It came to the fore that the doctor was practising medicine at his home in the locality. He provided treatment to those who visited his house.

Similarly, the parents took their son to the doctor's house and was administered an injection. There was no sign of reaction to the injection while he was at the doctor's house. A few minutes after reaching the house, the boy began experiencing stomach pain, fever and collapsed.

Immediately his parents rushed their boy to the Natrampalli town hospital, where doctors declared him brought dead.

Suspecting the doctor, the family members filed a complaint at the police station and a case was registered against the doctor.

Following this, the police officers raided the house of the doctor and found that he was a bogus doctor with fake medical certificates. They seized medicines and injections from his house and secured the evidence to present it in court.

As a result of providing wrong treatments to patients without being a qualified medical practitioner, the doctor was held.
