Patna: A recent video posted on Rahul Gandhi's YouTube channel has sparked controversy after he referred to a key speaker at an event as an orthopedic surgeon, despite claims that the individual is not a doctor but a compounder. The incident, captured on video, has led to political backlash, with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) using it to question the Congress leader's credibility and his knowledge of medical professions.

In the video, the announcer introduces K.P. Singh as an orthopedic surgeon at the 25:40 mark, and Singh continues to present himself as such during his speech. Later, at the 50:14 mark, Rahul Gandhi also refers to Singh multiple times as an orthopedic surgeon, reinforcing the initial introduction.

However, the BJP has questioned the accuracy of these statements, with BJP leader Neeraj Kumar claiming that K.P. Singh is actually a compounder who worked alongside an orthopedic doctor in Begusarai, not a medical professional with a formal degree.

He further criticized Gandhi for failing to distinguish between a doctor and a compounder, suggesting that it raised serious concerns about his preparedness for leadership roles in the country.

According to India TV, Kumar stated, “If Rahul Gandhi dreams of becoming the Prime Minister, he needs to understand the seriousness required for such a role. If he wants to remain a star campaigner for the BJP, that’s his choice, but the country expects seriousness from the Leader of Opposition.”

In response to the BJP’s accusations, Congress leaders have defended Rahul Gandhi, claiming that the issue has been blown out of proportion and politicized. They argue that this is merely an attempt by the BJP to distract from more pressing issues and that the incident should not overshadow the substance of the event.
