“We were on our way to Jaipur for a medical conference. The woman suddenly collapsed. Her daughter and husband were with her, and the situation was critical,” said Dr. Nayak.

He conducted a basic assessment using the limited medical equipment available, including a BP monitor. Upon discovering that her blood pressure was critically low, he realized the situation was grave.`

Speaking to Odisha TV, he said, “The air hostess then announced for a doctor for help. So, I tried to help with a basic check-up. The air hostess then handed me a BP machine. However, the woman’s BP was low. With no other option on the flight, I performed CPR on the patient. After a few minutes of CPR, I checked her BP again, and it was around 90. Slowly, the patient revived after 10-15 minutes. The flight was about to land in half an hour, and I suggested they take the woman to a nearby hospital.”

A fellow passenger captured a video of the incident, which has since gone viral across social media platforms. Netizens have flooded the internet with praise for Dr. Nayak’s timely intervention, hailing him as a “real-life hero” and applauding his calm and courageous response under extreme pressure.
