Tamil Nadu Medical Council tells Doctors to update Electoral Roll address for 2023 Elections, details

Chennai: Through a recent notice, Tamil Nadu Medical Council (TNMC) has notified all the doctors in the State about the upcoming election of the State Medical Council in January/February 2023.

Informing the doctors about the Council's decision of updating the Electoral Roll, the council has directed the registered medical practitioners in the State to furnish their change of address through the Tamil Nadu Medical Council Portal.

For this purpose, the TNMC Web Portal shall remain open till 5 P.M. on 14.10.2022, the Council has mentioned in its notice.

Announcing about the upcoming election next year, the Council notice stated, "In accordance with the rule 2 in regard to the Elections to the Tamilnadu Medical Council, Chennai under Clause (f) of sub-section (1) of Section 5 of the Madras Medical Registration Act, 1914 (Act IV of 1914) as amended by the Madras Medical Registration (Amendment) Act XVI of 1938, notice is hereby given that an election of Seven members of the Council will have to be held in the month of January / February 2023."

Directing the doctors to furnish their change of address, the Council notice further mentioned, "All Registered Medical Practitioners registered upto 30.06.2022 as published in the Gazette of Government of Tamil Nadu, will be eligible to vote. In view of this election, the Electoral Roll is being updated. Therefore, the Registered Medical Practitioners are requested to furnish their Change of Address, if any, through Online. All those RMPs who already have an account in Tamilnadu Medical Council Portal shall login to their Dashboard and provide their change in address, if any in the communication address column."

"**Those who do not have an account can create the account and provide their communication address. The TNMC Web portal will be open for this purpose till 14.10.2022 – 5 P.M. Ballot papers for the Election will be sent by Registered Post to the Communication Address provided by the RMPs," the notice issued by the Registrar cum Returning Officer of the Council, Dr. R. Shanmugam added.
