Kamareddy: A college dropout’s attempt to pose as a qualified medical practitioner at renowned hospitals like Star Hospital, Arogya Hospital, and Bheemaraj Hospital in Lingampet came to an end when he was recently arrested for allegedly treating patients with a forged medical degree and license for the past two years.

Although the accused presented himself as a certified doctor, he was actually a college dropout who had not completed his graduation. Claiming to have pursued an MBBS from Gandhi Medical College, he forged an Aadhaar card and doctor's certificate by editing his name in the downloaded certificate issued by the Medical Council of India on its website.

For the past two years, the accused secured employment at several hospitals in Kamareddy town, including Star Hospital, Arogya Hospital, and Bheemaraj Hospital in Lingampet, by falsifying his qualifications. As per a Telangana Today news report, he reportedly worked at other hospitals before joining Star Hospital.

Not only did he posed as a qualified general medicine doctor at hospitals but also accepted an advance of Rs 6 lakh from Shankumkha Hospital in Khanapur to serve as a pediatrician, DC news reported.

His fraudulant activities were caught after the the Indian Medical Association (IMA) representatives from Kamareddy district in doubt of his activities raised the issue with the Telangana Medical Council (TMC) by filing a compliant.

Upon investigation, TMC Registrar Lalaiah Kumar confirmed the certificates were fake and alerted the police. After he was arrested on Thursday, the police seized a fake Aadhaar card, fake doctor’s certificates, a laptop and a mobile phone from him.

Currently, the accused is in judicial custody.

Medical Dialogues had earlier reported that in an effort to safeguard the public health and curb the growing menace of quacks posing as Rural Medical Practitioners (RMPs) in Telangana, the Telangana State Medical Council (TSMC) has filed 400 FIRs over the past year and issued notices to 40 doctors suspected of aiding these illegal practitioners.
