TN Doctor allegedly murders wife by slitting throat, running car over her body

Chennai: In a brutal murder incident, a 35-year-old doctor allegedly slit the throat of his wife and later ran her over with his car and escaped the crime scene. However, while escaping in his car, he met an accident and was trapped inside the car after which police rescued him.

A team of police came to know that he was fleeing after committing the murder of his wife after rescuing him. The doctor has been arrested and sent to jail.

As per various media accounts, the marriage of the couple was on the verge of breaking down and the doctor went to visit her at her parent's place as the couple was staying apart. However, their conversations turned into arguments and the doctor suddenly allegedly attacked his wife with a knife and eventually ran her over with his car too. The woman was rushed to the nearby hospital but was declared dead.
As per a recent media report by The News Minute, the doctor has been identified as a 35-year-old native of Coimbatore, who was serving at SRM Medical College and Hospital; however, he left his job during the covid-19 pandemic almost 6 months ago. The doctor was married to the lady who worked in the human resources department at a college Melmaruvathur. The couple got married three years ago but their relationship was facing high waters as the doctor was suspicious of his wife's fidelity and often quarreled about it.
Almost six months ago the wife could not take it anymore and left him to go to her parent's house. According to the Times of India, on Friday, the doctor paid a visit to his in-law's home in Madurantaka in order to negotiate with his wife. While having a conversation, the doctor became violent and allegedly suddenly pulled out a knife and slit his wife's throat.
Hearing her desperate plea for help, her parents rushed to her aid; however, the doctor attacked them and overpowered them too. Meanwhile, the victim saw an opportunity to run away and to seek help from outside. When escaped and made it to the streets, the doctor followed her and allegedly ran her over with his car. The victim was immediately rushed to a government hospital but was declared brought dead.
On the other hand, the accused doctor fled the scene in his car, however, while escaping he met an accident and hit a maiden near the Achirapakkam toll plaza. The vehicle was overturned and he was trapped inside. Some of the passersby informed the Achirapakkam police after which a team of police reached the spot and rescued him. He was sent to Chengalpet GH for treatment.
As per TOI, to the utter shock of the police, when they started questioning the doctor, they found out that he met the accident while escaping after murdering his wife. The team informed Madurantakam police immediately after which the police registered a murder case and arrested the accused doctor.
