Tamil Nadu: Tamil Nadu Medical Council (TNMC) has invited applications from Registered Medical Practitioners for the Honorary Post of CME Observers, preferably with postgraduate qualifications and a good academic track record. Senior Registered Medical Practitioners can also apply.

As per the notice, those interested in taking up the role of Observers can submit their application through the mail with the details to cme@tamilnadumedicalcouncil.org. 

The following are the details to be submitted in the mail –

1. Name of the RMP

2. Registered Qualifications

3. TNMC Regn. Number

4. Mobile Number with Whatsapp

5. Email ID

6. Address for communication

7. Institute/College/Place of Practice

8. Nature of Work

Role of Observer –

The Observer is expected to discreetly verify and forward the list of participants and state if it was conducted as proposed and approved by TNMC.

After the Program, the Observer has to state –

1. If the CME was held

2. If all the Speakers attended

3. All the Programs / Sessions were held

4. Whether any deviation from ethics during the Program was observed

Continuing medical education (CME) is continuing education (CE) that helps those in the medical field maintain competence and learn about new and developing areas of their field. These activities may include live events, written publications, online programs, audio, video, or other electronic media. Content for these programs is developed, reviewed, and delivered by faculty experts in their clinical areas.

The Tamil Nadu Medical Council is a statutory body formed under the provisions of the Madras Medical Registration Act of 1914. The TN Medical Council caters to the registrations of those RMPs practicing or completing their study in Tamil Nadu, Pondicherry, and Andaman & Nicobar Islands. The Council imparts medical ethics to the RMPs and ensures scientific practice by them. The TNMC has the reputation of being run by democratically held elections once in 5 years. Seven elected members from the registered RMPs and three nominated members from the Govt. of Tamil Nadu run the Council.
