Trichy: Opposing the extension of their course for a month, PG doctors under the banner of the Non-Governmental Service Doctors Association carried out the demonstration at Mahatma Gandhi memorial government hospital attached to KAP Viswanatham government medical college in Trichy on Tuesday demanding to grant them the status of Senior Residents.
Almost 50 doctors who have already completed the super speciality courses, sought to consider their work under senior residency and demanded their absorption in government services.
The PG doctors were irked following the latest government circular from the Director of Medical Education (DME) in Chennai that imposed an extension on their courses for one month.
The protesting doctors pointed out that they pursued Post Graduation in different medical courses like MD and MS in the 2018-2021 batch and completed their course on May 30, 2021. Having said this, they demanded to be considered as senior resident doctors.
