Bhiwandi: A tragic road accident in Bhiwandi city has claimed the life of a doctor after his scooter slipped on a damaged road near Siraj Hospital at Vanjarpatti Naka, and he was subsequently crushed to death by a truck.

As per a recent media report, the doctor identified as Naseem Ansari was on his way home from duty when his vehicle lost balance due to potholes. He fell onto the road and was crushed by the rear tyre of a truck passing by.

The incident took place near Siraj Hospital at Vanjarpatti Naka in Bhiwandi city on Friday night, and the doctor died on the spot. Local residents said that the accident could have been avoided if the roads were properly maintained.

The stretch where the mishap took place is currently being used by trucks and other heavy vehicles because the APJ Abdul Kalam Flyover is closed for repair. As a result of the flyover being closed, traffic has been diverted, and the risk of accidents has increased further due to the movement of heavy vehicles on the pothole-filled road, NDTV reports.

After the incident, angry citizens gathered at the spot and raised slogans against the municipal authorities. They accused the administration of ignoring repeated complaints about the poor condition of the road and demanded urgent repairs to prevent further loss of lives.

Medical Dialogues had previously reported that a paediatrician posted at Chengalpattu Government Medical College Hospital (GMCH) lost his life, while 17 others, including another doctor, sustained serious injuries after a government-run bus lost control and rammed into another bus as well as the two doctors who were walking near the road.

The two doctors were walking towards Chengalpattu GMCH for their duties when the bus hit them and then crashed into a private bus in front. While bystanders and passengers were also injured, one of the doctors succumbed to the accident due to the severe impact.
