Tragic: TANA Board Director's wife, daughters die in car accident in Texas

Hyderabad: In a tragic incident, an Indian woman, who is the wife of Dr. Nagendra Srinivas Kodali, director on the Board of the Telugu Association of North America (TANA), and their two daughters were killed in a road accident in the Waller City of Texas, United States.

Srinivas's wife Vanisri was travelling with her daughters when a van hit their car. The Waller police said the accident occurred on the FM 2920 stretch at Kickapoo Road. While two of them died on the spot, the third succumbed at a hospital. Vanisri was working as an IT professional. Vanisri's 20-year-old elder daughter was a medical student, while the younger one, who is 16 years old, was studying in 11th standard.

Media reports have quoted the police officials stating that a white truck hit a black sedan which was occupied by three women. According to the police, two of the women were declared dead on the spot, and the third woman was taken to a hospital by Life Flight, reports the Telangana Today

The incident reportedly took place when they had gone to bring their elder daughter home for Dussehra, and a pickup truck hit their car when they were returning. 

Srinivas, a physician, hails from the Krishna district of Andhra Pradesh. He had gone to the US for higher education in 1995 after studying medicine at Guntur Medical College and settled as a Pediatric Cardiovascular Anesthesiologist in Houston. He had been serving as a member of the TANA board since 2017. 

The death of Vanisri and her two daughters sent shock waves in the Telugu community in the US. TANA members have expressed grief over their death. 

Medical Dialogues team had earlier reported about an accident that took place near Bhanpuri, Jagdalpur, while a tempo traveller was carrying 15 passengers, including 13 Nursing Officers of All India Institute of Medical Sciences, Raipur, Chhattisgarh to Jagdalpur on a personal trip. One Assistant Nursing Superintendent (ANS), Sumesh. C (35 Years) had been declared dead on the spot.
