Two Hyderabad Doctors detained in connection to Black Marketing of Amphotericin Injections

Police have seized six vials of the Amphotericin injections, essential for the treatment of mucormycosis patients, and Rs 29,600 in cash from them. They were allegedly trying to sell the injections for Rs 50,000 against the MRP price of Rs 7,400. However, the drug supplier, who has been identified as a medical representative, is still on the run.

As per various media reports, one of the two doctors runs a clinic at Saidabad and the other one is associated with a private hospital. Police have handed over the accused to Saifabad Police Station.

New Indian Express adds that the Task Force Sleuths acted on the basis of a tip-off and laid a trap to nab the accused. After inquiry, police got know that one of the doctors who runs a private clinic had contacts with doctors and drug suppliers.

Speaking to the daily, DCP Task Force P Radhakishan Rao informed that the accused would sell Liposomal Amphotericin B injections for up to Rs 50,000.

While commenting on the involvement of the Saidabad-based doctor in the matter, an official told the Times of India, "He hatched a plan with other accused to sell these injections at higher price. The actual price of each injection is Rs 7,400 but they decided to sell each vial for Rs 50,000."
