Unpaid Stipend for 5 Months: GMC Ambernath Resident Doctors Declare Indefinite Strike
Doctors Strike
Thane: Protesting against the pending stipend disbursement for the last five months, the senior resident doctors at Government Medical College Ambernath have declared an indefinite strike starting 3:00 PM today, 13th August 2025, if their dues remain uncleared within the next 48 hours.
"This decision has been taken with deep regret, only after exhausting every possible avenue for resolution. While emergency services will continue uninterrupted, all non-essential services will be withdrawn until our rightful stipends are released," the President of the GMC Ambernath Chapter of Maharashtra Senior Resident Doctors' Association (MSRDA) said in a release.
Writing to the Dean of the Institute on Monday, the GMC Ambernath Chapter of Maharashtra Senior Resident Doctors' Association (MSRDA) made a final appeal regarding the non-payment of stipends to all Senior Residents (bonded and non-bonded) for the past 4-5 months, since April/May 2025.
The doctors pointed out that as senior residents, they are continuing to discharge their clinical duties, teaching responsibilities, and emergency services with unwavering dedication, even while facing extreme financial distress.
