Door-to-Door ‘Doctor’ Arrested After Fatal Delivery in Rampur

Rampur: In a shocking case of alleged medical negligence, a 30-year-old woman and her newborn died during a home delivery reportedly conducted by an unlicensed practitioner. The case has once again exposed the serious risks posed by quacks operating in rural regions.

The incident occurred in the Kamri police station area, where the accused was reportedly operating without any formal medical qualification or authorization. According to family members, she had taken charge of the delivery at the woman’s home.

During the procedure, the newborn died, and the mother’s condition soon worsened. She also passed away shortly thereafter.

Investigations revealed that the accused did not run a clinic but instead travelled door-to-door on a scooter, offering delivery services. The family, unaware of her lack of credentials, had entrusted her with the procedure.

Following the incident, the bereaved family filed a complaint with the police. Authorities reached the scene, took custody of the bodies, and sent them for post-mortem examination.

As per Dainik Bhaskar, Station House Officer Camry Himanshu stated that a case has been registered against the accused. Based on the post-mortem report and other evidence, she was arrested and presented in court, which sent her to jail. He also stated that the investigation is ongoing and further action will be taken based on the post-mortem report.

Speaking to ABP Live, Chief Medical Officer Dr. Deepa Singh stated that the accused woman was a complete fraud and did not even own a clinic. She used to make door-to-door deliveries on her scooter. As soon as the department learned of the case, immediate action was taken. The health department is also filing a separate case against the accused. At present, both the police and the health department are taking strict action in the matter, but the big question is that for how long will such quack doctors continue to play with people's lives.
