Jagran has reported that under this new policy, the medical college principals will no longer appoint senior and junior resident doctors. Now the appointment for these posts will be conducted by Atal Medical University, Nerchowk (Mandi), based on a written examination and counselling. The notification in this regard has been issued by the Secretary of the Health Department.
The Daily has reported that until now, in order to get appointed, the senior and junior resident doctors had to apply to medical colleges and the principal used to make such appointments. Since the applicants applied to multiple medical colleges, a significant number of seats would go vacant. However, now, the appointments for these posts will be made through Atal Medical University based on application and counselling.
As per the latest media report by The Tribune, the appointment for these Class I posts of senior residents and tutor specialists, who have completed MD, would be for a period of three years and until the age of 45 years, relaxable only for candidates belonging to the SC, ST, and other special categories.
The recruitments for the posts of senior residents and tutor residents will be made through an entrance test, thrice a year in November, March, and July.
The Principal of the concerned medical college will issue a teaching experience certificate to the senior residents and tutor specialists and the certificate will remain valid for considering promotion or appointment as an Assistant Professor. The policy further states that no senior residents or tutor residents will be allowed to shift to any other institute without resignation from the former institute. However, in case of department vacancy, inter transferability on a couple of case grounds may be considered.
Further, the senior residents and tutors posted at Indira Gandhi Medical College and Tanda Medical College can be considered for inter transferability to the new medical colleges at Chamba, Nahan, Hamirpur, Mandi and Chamiyana, subject to availability of post.
