With the latest recognition, Mizoram now has 19 Primary Health Centres (PHCs) and 3 Urban Primary Health Centres (UPHCs) holding the prestigious NQAS national certification. Additionally, 12 more government health facilities that have already earned state-level certification are currently undergoing the process for national-level assessment, news agency UNI reported.

Health Minister Lalrinpuii hailed the achievement as a significant milestone for Mizoram, reflecting the dedication and hard work of doctors and healthcare staff at both the district and state levels. She noted that such recognition ensures maximum benefit for patients and underscores the state government’s commitment to quality public healthcare.

Medical Dialogues had earlier reported that Mizoram Health Minister Lalrinpuii announced that government-run hospitals will soon perform tissue transplantation, which will mark a new chapter in the state's medical science. Inaugurating a free health check-up for scribes at the state's largest hospital, Aizawl Civil Hospital, Lalrinpuii said that a Cardiology operation theatre or Cath Lab is being installed in the civil hospital to facilitate several health facilities, which were not previously available.

She said that kidney transplantation will also soon be possible in the Aizawl Civil Hospital as a designated operation theatre has been installed and a license has already been obtained from the Centre.
