Assam: 5 Lab technicians terminated over fraudulently acquiring jobs at Tezpur Medical College

Guwahati: The administration of Tezpur Medical College terminated the services of five laboratory technicians in the college as they were found to have acquired the jobs through fraudulent means. 

The college authorities stated that they dismissed the employees for using fake information to get a job in the college.

As per a media report in the Guwahati Plus, the issue came to the fore after several deprived candidates approached the court when they got to know about the issues in the recruitment process, said the principal of Tezpur Medical College and Hospital Dr Karuna Hazarika. 

Dr Hazarika said, "They are terminated. A court gave a verdict on September 27. Then immediately 2 were terminated. Court ordered the re-verification of the other three candidates. After that, all 3 were terminated on October 26. The case was filed in 2018. All are laboratory technicians. They were appointed in 2015." 

The Tezpur Medical College and Hospital (TMCH) was established in Assam's Tezpur in 2013, which is the sixth medical college of the state, functioning under the State Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Assam. The college is affiliated with Srimanta Sankaradeva University of Health Sciences and caters to a student population of around 125 every year in the undergraduate MBBS course. 

Medical Dialogues team had earlier reported a fraud case from Assam about the arrest of a fraud doctor practicing as an assistant professor in the Neurosurgery department of Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) using a forged identity card. The man, who was arrested by the Guwahati police, used a fake identity card that mentioned him as a doctor practicing at the GMCH. He allegedly forged official documents in addition to the forged identity card to take up a fake identity.
