Previously, patients requiring specialized care like neurology, cardiology, and neurosurgery had to be referred to other hospitals. However, with the hospital's expansion, Bhabha Hospital now offers these services on-site, eliminating the need for residents to travel long distances for treatment.

Minister Shelar emphasized the importance of providing affordable healthcare, especially in a region with numerous five-star private hospitals.

Speaking to TOI, Shelar said, "Even though there are five-star hospitals in the Bandra area, it is important to provide affordable healthcare facilities to the general public. The BMC is working on this objective. For citizens receiving treatment at Bhabha Hospital, services such as neurology, neurosurgery, cardiology, cath lab, dialysis centre, and advanced treatment departments are available. Additionally, facilities like CT scan and MRI are also provided."

According to BMC, approximately 800,000 people receive medical services through this hospital. On a daily basis, the outpatient department of the hospital examines between 2,000 to 2,200. The newly expanded hospital now offers a total of 497 beds, accommodating more patients and providing better facilities for in-patient care. Additionally, 14 modular technology-based surgical departments are expected to be fully operational in the near future.
