Delhi LG approves hiring of 918 staff for Dwarka's Indira Gandhi Hospital

New Delhi: The Lieutenant Governor of Delhi, V K Saxena has approved the hiring of 918 posts at the Indira Gandhi Hospital in Dwarka and the conversion of 76 temporary posts at Dr Baba Sahib Ambedkar Medical College into permanent ones.

According to a statement, 144 posts for teaching faculty, 44 junior residents, 369 nursing staff, 58 administrative staff and 273 support staff (technicians, assistants, nursing orderlies, security supervisors and security guards) have been created at the Indira Gandhi Hospital.

The hospital had been facing a shortage of staff due to various reasons and the decision will put an end to aphorism in appointments on regular government posts, the statement said.

"It may be recalled that the said hospital, construction of which had been completed earlier, had been facing the issue of non-staffing due to various reasons and the decision today would lead to putting an end to ad-hocism in appointments on regular government posts/positions," a release from the L-G office said, The Indian Express report. 

A Raj Niwas officials told TOI that the move will provide quality employment to professional and trained human resources.

Medical Dialogues team had earlier reported that LG VK Saxena has inaugurated the 'eSanjeevani' OPD project at MCD-run Hindu Rao Hospital that will provide round-the-clock medical services to patients through video conference.

With the launch of the app-based National Medical Teleconsultation Service under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, MCD and Hindu Rao Hospital became the first organisations to provide 24X7 medical services through the 'eSanjeevani' platform.

Saxena said that the initiative will provide specialised healthcare consultation to lakhs of patients in remote areas throughout the country. 

He said that the project will help patients get medical advice sitting at home, and access expert medical advice without a referral.
