Fire at Department of Pharmacology of VIMSAR, Equipment and chemicals worth Rs 10 crore gutted

Sambalpur: A major fire broke out at the Department of Pharmacology in Veer Surendra Sai Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (VIMSAR) at Burla in Odisha’s Sambalpur district. 

As of now, there have been no reported casualties or injuries, and the fire has been brought under control. The authorities of the hospital suspect that medical equipment and chemicals worth Rs 10 crore were destroyed in the fire.

The incident happened on Tuesday evening in the MRU of the Pharmacology department on the institute campus. Following the fire, the hospital authorities informed the Fire Brigade who rushed to the spot and brought the fire under control. 

According to the hospital authorities, the cause of the fire is suspected to be a short circuit in the power panel board. However, an investigation is underway to determine the exact cause of the incident,reports Odisha Bytes
