Fire erupts at ICU ward of Brahm Shakti Hospital, 1 patient suspected dead

New Delhi: An unfortunate incident of fire has been reported at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) ward of Brahm Shakti Hospital in Delhi's Rohini.

A fire has broken out at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) ward, a patient is suspected to have died in the blaze.

Delhi Fire Service Director Atul Garg informed that all patients have been safely rescued except for one patient who was on a ventilator, who he said is believed to have died.

As many as nine fire tenders were rushed to the Brahm Shakti Hospital to douse the fire.

"A fire broke out at third (ICU ward) of Brahm Shakti Hospital in Rohini. nine fire tenders were rushed. All have been safely rescued except 1 patient who was on the ventilator and is suspected to have died. Fire has been completely doused," Garg said.

The cause of the fire is not known yet. 

Further details into the matter are awaited. 

Medical Dialogues team had earlier reported that Karnataka Fire and Emergency Services personnel have rescued four labourers stuck beneath the collapsed portico of a private hospital in Bengaluru whereas one labourer had died, unfortunately. There was no movement of patients or people at the time of the incident at 6.15 a.m. on Saint Martha's hospital premises. 

The hospital authorities have promised to provide free treatment to the injured labourers.

The fire department stated that the building was constructed poorly which could be the reason of the incident. At around 7 am, the fire department released a crane and two earthmovers along with two rescue team upon receiving calls from the site. It took nearly three hours to get the workers out of the debris.
