GMC Jammu join hands with Tata Memorial Hospital to develop modern cancer care facilities
Srinagar: A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between Government Medical College (GMC) Jammu and Tata Memorial Hospital to develop ultra-modern tertiary cancer care facilities on Thursday.
On this occasion, Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha was present to lay foundation stones for various state-of-the-art health infrastructure projects at GMCs, DHs, CHCs, and PHCs across UT.
As a result of the MoU with Tata Memorial Hospital for academic and technical collaboration, the Cancer Institute will be integrated into Tata Memorial Center's national cancer grid and will be able to provide ultra-modern tertiary cancer care facilities and technical expertise to faculty and paramedical staff, Sinha said.

During the foundation laying of various state-of-the-art health infrastructure projects across UT, he told India Today, that the Union Territory (UT) government is committed to the goal of 'health for all' and promoting social equality through new healthcare projects and the augmented facilities contribute towards the further strengthening of the healthcare system.
While explaining he added, "We are determined to ensure that the new health facilities in various districts promote social equality and its benefits reach our brothers and sisters living in far-flung areas."

Sinha tweeted on February 24 said, "Laid foundation stone for various state-of-the-art health infrastructure projects at GMCs, DHs (district hospitals), CHCs (Community Health Centres) & PHCs (Public Health Centres) across the UT. The augmented facilities will contribute towards the further strengthening of the healthcare system."
Government Medical College, Jammu, a premier institute of J&K (Union Territory) was started in the year, 1973 in a temporary building with the object to provide quality education and deliver health care service to the people of this region. This institution is located in the heart of Temple City Jammu.
